Northwood and Tinkersley Parish Council serves a small, semi-rural community within the Derbyshire Dales, surrounded by the scenic landscapes of the Peak District. The parish includes the village of Northwood and the hamlet of Tinkersley, both characterised by a strong sense of local identity, community spirit, and an appreciation for the area’s natural beauty. The environment is defined by rolling countryside, mature woodland, and open green spaces that support a rich variety of wildlife. The parish council works to preserve and enhance this setting, promoting sustainable development, biodiversity, and the wellbeing of residents through stewardship of local amenities, green initiatives, and community projects.

Northwood Recreation Ground has served the community for over 55 years, offering play, sport, and nature space with rich biodiversity. Managed by the Parish Council, it’s being enhanced with fruit trees and school projects, remaining vital for leisure, wellbeing, and wildlife.
