Councillor Vacancy’s.
Northwood and Tinkersley Parish Council currently have three Councillor co-option vacancies. If you would like to support residents and help your community thrive, consider becoming a Parish Councillor. You can become a Councillor if you are over 18 and you live in or within 3 miles of the parish.
The role of Councillor:
Community Representation: Parish councillors represent the views and interests of all residents within their parish. They are expected to engage with the community, listen to concerns, and advocate for local needs.
Attendance at Meetings: Regular attendance at council meetings and local organization meetings is crucial. Councillors are expected to prepare for these meetings by reviewing agendas and relevant documents in advance.
Service Management: Councillors may oversee local services such as maintaining open spaces, play areas, and community facilities. They are responsible for deciding how much to raise through council tax to fund these services.
Collaboration with Other Authorities: Parish councillors work with other local authorities and organizations to address broader community issues. This includes liaising with district councils, police, and other service providers to improve local conditions.
Engagement in Local Projects: Councillors often initiate or support local projects aimed at improving the quality of life in their area. This can involve lobbying for resources, organizing community events, or addressing specific local issues.
If you are interested in becoming a Parish Councillor in the first instance, please contact Mr Steven Tomlinson the clerk of the council.
